TRAVEL RESTRICTION DURING MAY-DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, has announced that during the long weekend of the 1-3 May, the Government will repeat the travel restrictions that were imposed over Easter, when movement between municipalities was prohibited, with a few specific exceptions.

PRIME MINISTER – BAN ON TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF MUNICIPALITY MAY 1ST to 3RD

The Government will adopt the same travel restrictions that were in force at Easter for the long weekend of the 1st of May.

Between 1 and 3 May it will be prohibited to travel between municipalities, announced Prime Minister António Costa, this Friday.

António Costa spoke to journalists after meeting with representatives of the trade and services sectors, and also with the leader of the Islamic community in Portugal, Abdul Vakil, after being asked about the long weekend between 1 and 3 May.

“For this weekend, the Government will enact a ban on travel between municipalities, just as it happened during the Easter period,” said the Prime Minister.
