The Funchal City Council marks the 46th anniversary of the April 25, 1974 revolution with several initiatives dedicated to this date.

According to the note sent to the media, the municipality informs that, this Friday, at about 12 noon, the president of the municipality, Miguel Silva Gouveia, will be live on the official CMF facebook page, for the 2nd edition of the conversations “Speak Funchal ”.

The guests will be Vicente Jorge Silva, Madeiran journalist and co-founder of Público, and João Marecos, lawyer and co-creator of the popular page «The tricks of the Portuguese press», in a conversation that will address the right to information, freedom of the press and the importance of journalism for Democracy.

At 9 pm, the commemorative concert of 25 de Abril in Funchal will take place, live on CMF’s facebook and instagram, with Madeiran singer Tiago Sena Silva.

The show, which will bring together a repertoire of intervention songs, will be broadcast from the inner garden of Paços do Concelho, to all Madeirans around the world.

At 10:55 pm, the Municipality invites the population to come to the windows of their houses, to watch a symbolic moment of light and color in the skies of Funchal, which will be visible in all parishes. The time was chosen on purpose to remember the moment when the song “E Além do Adeus”, by Paulo de Carvalho, played on Rádio Renascença, serving as a password to the beginning of the Revolution.

Regarding the launch of the fireworks, with a post in each parish of Funchal, the municipality emphasizes that it will have a total cost of 5,000 euros, “regretting the lack of information instigated in social networks, through channels that are not serious, nor trustworthy. “
